Being swamped with work is no reason to avoid rest: Unconventional ways to take a break.

When the lock down started, I thought to myself “finally, some time to rest”. Sure enough, there was less school work or being busy with extra-curricular, but my brain was still on a treadmill. Rest was something I would have to consciously indulge in.

It took this holiday to show how I consistently underrated rest. If there was a poll for those who hate stress, we would all be in the category, but how many times do we pause and get some rest?

Why is rest important? How often should we take breaks? Won’t that impede our work? These are important questions to ask in our times. Yet, the human body hasn’t changed in its being wired to rest.

When you hear ‘rest’, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? A vacation, sleep, unwinding or leisure? A lot of research has shown the benefits and highly encourages it. It’s your body in the first place and no one can take care of it better than you. Therefore we need these constant reminders to rest.

Benefits of resting.

Resting gives you a better perspective. Just imagine if all you did was work, day in, day out. No moments of rest. You will definitely burnout. When you take a break, you look at things with a relaxed mind.
